We are excited to announce yet another major capital investment for 2015. We are further enhancing our service with the installation of a 6-colour Rapida 106 B1 press with integral coating and KBA’s ground-breaking performance and quality-assurance technologies. This investment follows purchases earlier this year of a 7800 HP Indigo digital press and Kalmar mailing equipment with mail matching software.
The new £1.9 million KBA is due to be installed in December for commissioning early in the New Year.
5 benefits of the investment
The new press provides 5 benefits for both existing and new customers:
- Differentiating products – the full range of coating finishes, including soft-touch and high-gloss, can help differentiate customers’ collateral
- More productive time – passing-on-press requires customers to spend less time out of the office
- Maintaining brand value – the latest blemish detection technology delivers even greater colour consistency
- Get a message to market faster – cut print schedules with more flexible turnaround times
- A clearer conscience – new technology allows Park to cut waste and provide even more environmentally friendly production
The new press comes with the very latest technology, including fully automated simultaneous plate changing, in-press colour control, fully automated coating and drying systems, sheet inspection quality software and 18,000 sheets per hour production.
The choice of press was made after a rigorous review of alternatives including full on-site testing over a wide range of substrates and technically challenging designs. It was particularly important to us, that one of our No. 1 pressroom operators was a member of the assessment team. Maintenance support, the quality and productivity offered by the Rapida 106+L, together with the excellent customer service offered by KBA and overall value-for-money were all factors that contributed to the decision.
One important consideration was The QualiTronic Professional sheet blemish detection software. Without this technology, a paper spot or other blemish can go undetected for a significant number of sheets. This software alerts the minder to the blemish, and shows its position on an image of the sheet on-screen for speedy correction while tagging affected sheets in the delivery pile for removal downstream. The software underpins the KBA quality promise, enabling Park to feel confident that our high quality standards will be maintained at the very fastest press speeds. This blemish detection technology is present on only a handful of presses in the UK.
Alison Branch says:
We are delighted to be able to enhance our service to customers by offering the full suite of creative finishes, speed up press passing, be even more environmentally friendly and support our customers by taking on more projects. The KBA Rapida 106+L is a tremendously exciting press.
