Jimmy Choo is a high fashion luxury brand offering an empowered sense of glamour and a playfully daring spirit through its elegant shoes and handbags.
Emperor Design’s brief was to design an annual report that captured the essence of the Jimmy Choo brand, and create a ‘wow’ factor, while providing all the statutory information, within a modest budget.
Our challenge was to produce a technically complex report incorporating 6 colours, foiling, embossing, spot gloss UV varnish and 3 tipped-in foiled dividers to the highest quality standards within an exceptionally fast turnaround schedule of 5 working days.
In addition we had to match the colour, tone, shape and embossing of the Jimmy Choo logo on the front cover to the gold logo on a paper bag supplied by the customer.
We advised Emperor on which foil to choose to match the gold logo on the supplied paper bag and recommended that the logo be embossed.
Park suggested a mid-range paper stock that facilitates a very good image reproduction.
We undertook on-press machine scatter-proofs which were then UV varnished, to check image reproduction and to ensure the gold pantone chosen by Emperor gave a good match in colour to the gold foil. The pantone was changed following the scatter-proof.
Digital book-proofs were produced overnight from artwork one evening, to delivery early next morning.
Foiling and embossing proofs were undertaken to ensure that the finished result would be a close match to the logo on the paper bag. Brass foiling dies, were recommended in order to obtain the clean edges required.
All folding and binding was completed in house and we supervised the outwork foiling and UV varnishing.
